Hello Spring(?) Detox Iyengar + Twists Sequence
Here at Elements HQ in northern California, we’re accustomed to warmer, early spring days. This relentlessly long winter brought more rain than we’ve seen the last few years combined. Much needed, and it’s wonderful to see the lakes replenished.
At last… today, the sun came out and I was able to get outside for practice.
The Ayurveda for this season around late winter, early spring is known for kapha qualities, heavy, wet and dull. Laying out my mat in the sunshine hinted the day might break through the 57 degree forecast, I felt called to incorporate twists into a slower Iyengar sequence to generate some heat.
Here's some inspiration for your practice today.
Seated cross leg on a cushion or bolster
Inhale arms overhead Reach for the sky. Twist and reach your right hand on the ground behind your spine, left hand on right knee. Take your time. Switch sides. |
|
Stretch both legs forward Raise your arms up. Place your right leg over your left knee. Left hand on the ground behind your spine, right arm squeezes the right leg for a nice twist. Switch sides. |
